Duplex transmission of RP and SIPS commands (32 for each direction) is effected by means of the AVANT K400 transceiver over a power-line communication channel with a total bandwidth of 4 kHz. This means that for each direction there is a 2 kHz transmission channel with adjacent bands (Fig. 1).

In cases where it is necessary to send commands in only one direction, it is also possible to use the AVANT K400 transceivers (Fig. 2). In this case, the PL carrier becomes a simplex channel, and the AVANT K400 transceiver fulfils the functions of either a transmitter or a receiver of commands, including operation in compatibility mode with other similar simplex devices.
